Karen Swannack (known as Kay) is a solicitor and partner in Foys and is responsible for the Family Law Team at the Crystal Peaks Office. She qualified as a solicitor in 1996, having completed an Honours BSc Degree in Psychology. She joined Foys in 1996 and became a partner in 2013.
Kay specialises in Family Proceedings and has extensive experience of divorce and finances, Children matters and issues of personal protection. She is an accredited member of the Law Society Children Panel which recognizes expert knowledge and significant experience in Child Law and allows for the representation of both parents and children within proceedings involving child neglect and abuse.

Approach
Families and relationships can be complicated and it can be difficult to navigate disputes when things break down. Kay has been offering advice and support to clients for decades. She prides herself on her sympathetic and professional approach, whilst projecting confidence. Kay is keen to help find find a solution that works for those she is assisting, together with their families at times of crisis or breakdown. She regularly represents individuals at risk of losing their children, survivors of domestic abuse and parents with complex child arrangements disputes.
Experience
Kay has significant experience across a spectrum of child and family matters, including:-
Representation to resolve arrangements for children where these are in dispute between the parents.
Advising clients through the mediation process and assisting in resolving negotiated arrangements.
Representing Children, parents and the wider family members in court proceedings involving child protection and the removal of children from the care of their family.
Advising in relation to step-parental roles within blended families and Special Guardianship Orders.
Non-molestation and Occupation Orders to provide safety and security for individuals.
Divorce and finances, when the parties are able to reach agreement and those where there remains issues to be resolved by the court.
